When living Nobel Peace Laureates made their appeal to the world that the first decade of the new milennium (2001-2010) be declared the "Decade of a Culture of Nonviolence," many heeded the call. Unfortunately, in 2009, more people know nothing about the Decade of Nonviolence than those who know. It was for this reason that The Peace Hour was created. In 2004, after several Houstonian peacemakers became a working Decade of Nonviolence group, P.K. McCary pitched an idea for a radio broadcast that told the stories of peace in action. The purpose of the show grew to encompass what true peace is. The guests for The Peace Hour have shown us that peace is not only possible, but inevitable. Today, our broadcasts is rising to a new level of being. We will take our show to new heights, sharing the ways in which we can build cultures of nonviolence for our children. Join us as we bring you these stories and capture the essence of peacemakers around the Globe.
